The BioBook UP is a modular benchtop bioreactor designed for microbial fermentation and cell culture across research and process development applications. It supports both autoclavable borosilicate glass and single-use disposable vessels from 50 mL to 20 L working volume, and scales from a single unit to parallel configurations of up to 12 bioreactors in Twin, Quad, and Multi-bench arrangements.
Working Principle
The system operates via a PLC-based controller integrated with Bioflex SCADA software, enabling simultaneous regulation of pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, foam, pressure, agitation, and liquid level. Up to eight peristaltic pumps handle liquid additions, while gas mixing stations support up to eight gases with optional mass flow controllers. Smart ARC probes monitor both process values and sensor quality in real time. Batch, fed-batch, and continuous operating modes are supported with full online data recording.
Key Features
Each modular unit, gas mixing, pumps, and thermo-chiller, can be independently replaced or upgraded without specialist intervention. Validated to GMP and GLP standards with fully traceable materials, the BioBook UP meets pharmaceutical-grade documentation requirements and is supported by a worldwide service and spare parts network.
