CellDrop BFx
The CellDrop BFx is a high-magnification brightfield automated cell counter developed for laboratories working with small or low-debris cell populations such as yeast and other sub-20 µm cells. Built on the same DirectPipette™ platform as the CellDrop BF, it upgrades to a 10X objective to extend counting capability into a finer cell size range, making it the preferred brightfield choice for applications that fall outside the resolution of standard magnification systems.

Built on the same DirectPipette™ platform as the CellDrop BF, it upgrades to a 10X objective to extend counting capability into a finer cell size range, making it the preferred brightfield choice for applications that fall outside the resolution of standard magnification systems.
The CellDrop BFx loads samples directly onto two permanent, parallel optical-grade sapphire surfaces using as little as 5 µL of cell suspension, held in place by surface tension without slides. A 530 nm LED provides brightfield illumination, and the 10X objective captures detailed images of cells ranging from 2 to 20 µm in diameter. Counting results are returned in 3 seconds. EasyApps™ software applies cell size gating, autofocus, and advanced declustering to deliver reproducible, standardised outputs suitable for routine laboratory use.
Operating at a dynamic range of 4.3×10⊃3; to 2.1×10⁸ cells/mL, the CellDrop BFx accommodates the higher cell densities commonly encountered in yeast and small-cell workflows. The wipe-clean sapphire surface ensures rapid turnaround between samples with no disposable slide cost. Flexible purchase options, a 2-year warranty, and optional slide modes make it a versatile and cost-effective long-term solution.
